Sixmilebridge Half Marathon Route Description (with Map Links)
The race starts on the village side of the GAA field, positioned just where the end wall of the clubhouse meets the adjoining housing estate.

From the gun, runners head out along the Newmarket Road, settling into a steady opening stretch.
The course continues towards the Crabtree Pub, which you will reach at approximately 6.5km. Just before Newmarket-on-Fergus, runners will take a turn:

About 100m later, after crossing the railway bridge, runners will take a left turn:

From here, the route brings you alongside the lake, which will remain on your left-hand side for roughly 1.2km. At the end of this stretch, you will turn right at a junction marked by a small shed and farm gates:

The next section features a gradual uphill climb of approximately 1km, passing a newly built but unoccupied house:

After cresting this section, runners will descend for about 300m before taking a sharp left turn heading towards the Quin Road:

At around the 10km mark, you will pass a water station located on the lakeside of the road.
The course then continues until approximately 12km, where you will take a left turn that brings you onto the Quin Road:

Here, you will turn right and begin your return towards Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry:

This section includes a gentle uphill pull for about 400m, followed by a welcome downhill stretch. The route continues along this road until approximately 16km, where you will meet the Kilkishen Road and turn right into Kilmurry:

In Kilmurry (around 16.5km), you will merge with the 10km runners and pass the final water station:

From here, continue straight, following the road to the Ballysheen turn-off. Please note this is a narrower road, so be mindful of traffic:

As you approach the closing stages, there is a challenging section of approximately 500m or more around the graveyard—this is where you’ll need to dig deep:

After this, a final left turn brings you back into Sixmilebridge village, where a fast and flat 500m run-in awaits.
The finish line is located just outside the GAA field, where you’ll be welcomed home after completing a rewarding and scenic half marathon.
