Sixmilebridge 10km Route Description (with Map Links)

The race starts just outside the gates of the GAA club, right in the heart of Sixmilebridge village.

From the start, runners will head out of the village, settling into the opening kilometres on a steady stretch of road.

After just over 2km, you will pass the mart on your right-hand side. Shortly after passing the mart, runners will take a right turn:

This brings you onto a quieter, narrower road where you’ll enjoy a lovely 3.5km stretch. Please be mindful of local traffic along this section.

Continuing on, you will arrive into Kilmurry, where you will turn right. Here, you’ll also meet the half marathon runners and pass a water station:

As you pass through Kilmurry, please be aware that Mass may be taking place at the church, so respect and awareness are important in this area.

Leaving Kilmurry, the course offers a nice downhill stretch back towards Sixmilebridge—an ideal chance to pick up the pace heading into the final kilometres.

Approaching the village, runners will take a right turn at Ballysheen:

This is another narrow road, and while it’s a fast section, you’ll need to stay focused. The course then brings you into a challenging 500m stretch around the graveyard—this is where you’ll need to dig deep and push for the finish.

After this section, you will rejoin the Newmarket Road and head straight for home, back into the village:
